FAQs
What is "The Sitting Month"?
In the Chinese culture, a Postpartum Doula is called "Yuè Sǎo" literally translated as "Month Auntie/Sister-in-law" who's role is to assist mothers in the first month of postpartum recovery. They promote healing through foods that nourish the mother's depleted body from pregnancy and birth, allowing mothers to rest and limiting physical activity by handling baby care and light housework. As a Chinese American, my goal is to connect with my roots and provide a modern take on this tradition.
What is the difference between a birth doula and a postpartum doula?
Birth doulas support mothers at the hospital or birthing place and prenatally. Postpartum doulas typically support the family after they bring the baby home.
